Since the marine repair work here in La Paz is quite seasonal I have a lot of free time in the summer months to pursue other interests.

One of those interests is delivering and re positioning boats for boat owners.

Many owners have limited free time to spend on their boats. So the service we provide is to move their boat to the location of their choice so they can use their free time enjoying their boat instead of just getting it there.

Our deliveries have included from New Zealand to Hawaii via the cook islands. From La Paz Mexico to Fort Lauderdale via the Panama Canal. And a number of deliveries from the west coast of the U.S. to La Paz Mexico and back.

I deliver boats up to 60 ft and 100 tons. I do not have a captains license but have a lot of sea miles and experience which is something a lot of licensed captains do not have. I have never had a problem with owners insurance companies not accepting me.

The costs for most deliveries are as follows:

$4.50 U.S. per mile.

All expenses including airfare, food, fuel etc.

A deposit of 50% of the mileage fee is requested up front. Usually most expenses for the trip are paid out of this deposit.

A contract form will be emailed to prospective clients which lays out the responsibilities of the owner and me as the delivery skipper.
